The article examines the place of digital photography within contemporary artistic practice. The relevance of the study is обусловлено the rapid development of digital technologies and their impact on new modes of image production and perception. The novelty of the paper lies in its integrated examination of the factors that have shifted photography from the mechanical recording of reality toward a hybrid formation that combines documentary reference with artistic construction. The study identifies characteristic features of the digital image, including enhanced detail, the use of editing techniques, and interaction with other media formats. It considers both professional and amateur practices that expand the conventional boundaries of photographic production. Special attention is given to three photographic works by Andreas Gursky, Gregory Crewdson, and Loretta Lux, each of which illustrates innovative artistic solutions in staged photography, landscape interpretation, and portraiture. The study seeks to identify the main trajectories in the transformation of the aesthetic principles of digital photography. To achieve this aim, the paper employs comparative analysis, content analysis, and the interpretation of scholarly works reflecting current debates surrounding the photographic image. The conclusion argues that digital photography is acquiring increasing significance as a self-sufficient medium of experimental artistic practice that contributes to the formation of contemporary visual culture. The article is intended for specialists in visual arts, designers, cultural scholars, and readers interested in the evolution of modern photographic aesthetics.
