To deepen the study of translation history, it is essential to fully explore the translation of disciplines, which is closely related to China’s modern economic development, social progress, and the establishment and development of academic fields. However, the translation history of disciplines has not received the attention it deserves within translation history research. Against the backdrop of “rewriting translation history”, it has become more urgent and necessary to study the relationship between translation and the emergence and development of disciplines in modern China. In response to the need for the advance of translation history research, Fu Jingmin together with other scholars have written Relevance & Interactions: Translation and the Development of Disciplines in Modern China, marking the beginning of the writing of the knowledge translation history of disciplines in China. The monograph uncovers and sorts out a large number of previously overlooked or obscured historical materials and facts, and systematically investigates the translation course of ten humanities and social science disciplines in modern China from the perspective of knowledge translation history. It reveals the knowledge-building role that translation has played in the inception and development of these disciplines.
