This article explores the development of epic narrative from oral storytelling and how it has adapted to contemporary socio-cultural environments among Hualngo, a subgroup of the Chin people. Chin epics have long been integral to the cultural transmission of identity and collective memory, but these texts have experienced a reinvigorated popularity, made possible by cultural festivals, digital resources, and the work of institutions like the Zo Reunification Organization (ZORO). ZORO, through its cross-border initiatives, has been crucial in nurturing solidarity among Zo ethnic groups, especially the Chin (Doungel), and in preserving culture. This paper explores the dialectic between tradition and innovation in these epic iterations. It underscores the importance of such adaptations in maintaining cultural continuity amid an ever-changing political landscape and evolving social realities.
