Psychological factors play a crucial role in determining performance in cognitive sports such as chess. The present study aimed to assess selected psychological factors among male and female chess players. A total of 100 chess players, including 50 male and 50 female participants, were selected for the study. The psychological variables examined were general mental health, intelligent quotient (IQ), and self-confidence. Standardized questionnaires and psychological tests were used to collect data from the participants. The results were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods to compare the psychological characteristics between male and female chess players. The findings of the study may help in understanding the psychological requirements for success in chess and may assist coaches and sports psychologists in designing appropriate mental training programs for chess players.
